Monthly Business Meetings– We meet the second Wednesday of each month to discuss club business and plan the upcoming month’s activities.  At our Monthly Meeting we may hold a themed discussion among members or invite a speaker.  This time is also used to chat with moms while our children are playing and socializing.  Prospective members are most welcome to visit our Monthly Meeting.

Playgroups– Playgroups are a great way for the children to play together while moms chat about the experiences of motherhood.   We may meet in a warm, comfortable environment at a member’s home during the cold winter months or outside during the warmer months at a local park.  We also meet at play areas inside malls and other recreational facilities in our area.

Craft Days- Move over Martha Stewart… Here come our talented young crafters!!! (Perhaps with a little help from mom of course).  We may get together for some crafting and conversation during the month and make anything from paper turkeys at Thanksgiving to make-your-own playdough (I hear it’s edible if you dare!) You’d be amazed at how creative (and messy) your little ones can be.

MOMS Night Out–   You deserve a night off from all of your hard work.  Once a month we get together at night to relax and enjoy a little time away.  It may be dinner at a restaurant, out to see the latest hit at the box office, a recipe exchange at a member’s house or any other activity one of our members dreams up.  Each month is something new and different and we hope that you will join us.

Field Trips– What would our club be without outings to visit the local sites of interest?  With all that we do there is sure to be something for everyone.  If not, let us know and we will do it.  Do you like animals?  Then join us at the Akron Zoo, the Cleveland Zoo or Naturealm.  Like museums?  We visit places like the McKinley Museum, The Cleveland Children’s Museum and the Museum of Natural History.  And who can resist food?  We’ve gone on tours of ice cream stores, pizza shops, candy factories, grocery stores, and bakeries .  Yum!!  A sure hit is a visit to the local fire station and to a nearby airport.  After doing all that, how could you pass up a hayride, picking your own pumpkins and apples in the Fall while the leaves are changing colors.  This is just the short list of the many outings that the MOMS Club of Copley/ Fairlawn enjoy!

Seasonal Parties– We love a party!  We like to celebrate all those holidays with a little food, fun and music. There’s costume parties in autumn, winter holiday parties, Valentine parties and egg hunts in the spring.  Everybody contributes something whether it be a refreshment, game, craft, or music.

Service projects– Our club wants to do what we can to help others in our community.  As a chapter of the International MOMS Club we are committed to complete at least one service project per year to benefit children.  Currently we are involved with volunteer projects with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.  In the past we have sponsored a Mother’s Day Photo Shoot fundraiser to benefit ACCESS, Inc., participated in the WKDD Radiothon Change Bandits to benefit Akron Children’s Hospital, donated clothing and baby equipment to Akron Pregnancy Services, purchased school supplies for Good Neighbors, and assembled layettes to send to Haiti.

Sunshine– Everyone needs a little extra help sometime whether it be during the excitement of a pregnancy and new baby or during times of hardship such as illness, surgery or death of a loved one.  The Sunshine Committee is here to help by arranging for a Big Sis to keep in contact with you and also by organizing meals to be delivered by fellow MOMS.  Help can also be by someone simply running to the store for medicine when your child is ill and you are homebound.  If you need help, sunshine is here for you.

This is just a small list of the types of activities that our club participates in.  We welcome any new ideas and would like to expand our activities to include such things as walking club, cooking club, scrapbooking club, book club etc. as members’ interests dictate.

If you are interested in starting something up, we welcome your ideas and will provide the support you need to get started.
